LAS VEGAS — Knicks coach David Fizdale left the Thomas & Mack Center on Friday the 13th, but for a change, the floundering franchise has found only good luck.
Stamp July’s summer league a success as Fizdale left Vegas raving about Kevin Knox’s “great toughness” in “answering the bell” and project center Mitchell Robinson’s “timing’’ and believing his young team may turn into a bigger force than anyone expects come October.
Knox, the Knicks’ lottery pick, did not play the summer-league finale against New Orleans after looking fatigued during Thursday’s matchup versus the Celtics. But second-rounder Robinson excelled again with another double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds) to go with five blocks as the Knicks prevailed 102-83 to finish 2-3.
