The Rockets coaching search reaches its next phase with one former Knicks coach stepping to the forefront and another stepping back.
The Houston Chronicle reported on Wednesday that Mike D’Antoni has emerged as a front-runner for the Rockets job after impressing the team in his first interview. He will meet with Rockets owner Leslie Alexander to try to solidify his grip on the position.
Jeff Van Gundy, who coached the Knicks and the Rockets, was interested in the job, but never interviewed and is now out of the running, according to The Vertical.
