News came out on Wednesday that the New York Knicks and Sacramento Knicks have been talking about a trade that would send center Enes Kanter west and Zach Randolph to the Big Apple.
While the move would help the Knicks unload a player in Kanter who isn’t happy about losing his starting job twice this season, the swap wouldn’t help them, since Kanter’s contract is set to run out after this season and they would be only swapping expiring contracts. There’s no upside for them to get the deal done.
The trade will only make sense for the Knicks if they can also get an asset in return from the Kings.
