NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Isiah Thomas is reportedly returning to MSG under the watchful eye of James Dolan.
Thomas has been hired as president of the New York Liberty and will become part-owner of the WNBA franchise, according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard.
Thomas’ controversial tenure as president and head coach of the Knicks ended in 2008. But the 54-year-old Hall of Famer has remained linked to Dolan, who oversees the Knicks, Liberty and Rangers as chairman of the Madison Square Garden Company.
The Liberty went 15-19 in 2014 and didn’t qualify for the playoffs for the second straight season under head coach Bill Laimbeer, who was Thomas’ former teammate in Detroit.
