As Mike Vaccaro recently pointed out, little has gone right for the Knicks in the draft lottery since winning the Patrick Ewing sweepstakes 32 years ago.
Though Tuesday night’s drawing could change the fortunes of the long-suffering franchise, the Knicks only have an 18.3 percent chance of landing a top-three pick, including a 5.3 percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick. The Knicks haven’t had a top-three pick since taking Ewing first overall in 1985.
In one of the deepest drafts in years, the Knicks would still have plenty of options later in the lottery, but chances are that the draft won’t look nearly as loaded in a few years.
