Toronto basketball fans have had plenty to cheer about in recent times and will get a chance to experience another warm moment Wednesday night.
The hometown kid, RJ Barrett, will play his first NBA game in Toronto when the Knicks visit the defending NBA champions at AirCanada Centre.
The Knicks’ 19-year-old rookie lottery pick grew up in the suburb of Mississauga and played extensively for Canadian junior national teams. His father, Rowan Barrett, is a national basketball treasure and current GM of Canada’s national team.
There is expected to be a media circus at the Knicks’ morning shootaround Wednesday.
