LAS VEGAS — The Knicks’ four new free-agent faces entered a glitzy Las Vegas hotel ballroom Friday night, schmoozing with team president Phil Jackson and general manager Steve Mills before meeting a small group of media members.
No stars were in sight in this town known for its glamour, but that was just fine with Mills. The GM said Jackson wasn’t in star-gazing mode this July. That was evident when the Knicks officially introduced a modest free-agent haul — center Robin Lopez, shooting guard Arron Afflalo, backup power forward Kyle O’Quinn and 2011 draft bust Derrick Williams.
“We tried to be as clear as possible — we weren’t chasing the biggest stars, that’s not how we’re trying to build this team,’’ Mills said on the eve of the Knicks’ summer-league debut at UNLV.
