Dark horse contenders. That is probably the consensus answer from fans and analysts around the NBA if they were asked what tier the New York Knicks currently belong in.
And if they are to end up as such—or surpass that label and become legitimate contenders—they will need both the individual players and the team as a whole to take another collective step forward and improve on what was a “great but ultimately not good enough” 2023-24 season.
