#NYK70 | 1980: Micheal Ray Richardson Records Franchise Record Nine Steals in Loss to Chicago

When he was drafted in 1978, Micheal Ray Richardson had a lot to live up to: he was billed as “the next Walt Frazier.” As a playmaker and defender, he did his best to justify the comparison, becoming just the third player in NBA history to lead the league in both assists and steals. That season, his second, Richardson joined a select group when he recorded an incredible nine steals in one game against the Bulls. Only 50 players have done that since the league began recording the steals statistic.
