#NYK70 | 1955: The Old Garden Hosts The All-Star Game

In 1955 the old Madison Square Garden at Eighth Avenue and 50th Street was the site for the NBA’s fifth All-Star Game. The hometown Knicks were well-represented by local hero Dick McGuire, who grew up in Queens and attended St. John’s; Brooklyn’s Carl Braun, who led the Knicks in scoring during each of his first seven seasons with the team; and the ever-reliable Harry Gallatin, who scored 13 points in a game-high 36 minutes to help lead the Eastern Conference to a 100-91 win.
