The Spanish national team is flush with NBA players and European legends. While all eyes are on the likes of Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Sergio Rodriguez, and Juan Carlos Navarro, it was one of the youngest contributors on the roster who made an early mark: New York Knicks center Willy Hernangomez.
In Spain’s first game of EuroBasket 2017, Hernangomez was legitimately dominant during a 99-60 decimation of Montenegro.
Four players scored in double-figures for Spain, which kept just two players on the court for more than 20 minutes. Rodriguez dished out 10 assists to keep the ball moving, and both Gasol and Rubio added five dimes of their own.
