New York Knicks to reach out to Villanova coach Jay Wright (Report)

The New York Knicks intend to reach out to Villanova head coach Jay Wright about their head coaching vacancy. Frank Isola of The New York Daily News reports that management believes Wright is the “perfect candidate” for the job.

After winning his second championship in three seasons with the Wildcats, Wright has become one of the hottest coaching candidates in recent memory. But as recently as last week, he told Dana O’Neil of The Athletic that he wasn’t interested in leaving Villanova for the NBA.

Coaches say a lot of things that seem like denials, especially college coaches, and Wright didn’t technically mention the Knicks by name.
