Joakim Noah’s departure from the New York Knicks has seemed inevitable since former head coach Jeff Hornacek’s imposed exile in January. The divorce did not happen in-season, in the summer, and as of Friday’s practice.
Shams Charania of The Athletic previously reported Noah and the Knicks were near an agreement to sever ties and use the waive-and-stretch provision. It led to an absence on media day and practices throughout the week.
Saturday marks New York’s open practice at Madison Square Garden—the prelude to the first preseason game on Monday, Oct. 1 against the Washington Wizards.
