When the New York Knicks were first thrown out as a candidate to acquire Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker, it sounded intriguing. After all, Walker is a bonafide star and a New York City native.
It felt like a match made in heaven.
But the 24-hour rumor mill suggested that a deal isn’t imminent. The teams might not even be in contact with one another. That’s probably for the better.
Walker is having another strong season in Charlotte, averaging 21.7 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game. The team hasn’t followed his lead, however, with the Hornets four games out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, behind even the Knicks.
