For the past eight years, Derrick Rose has donned a Chicago Bulls jersey. On both sides of that uniform has been the number 1, which coincided with Rose going No. 1 overall in the 2008 NBA Draft.
With news breaking that Rose has been traded to the New York Knicks, the 2011 NBA MVP appears ready for a fresh start.
It’s been a tough five years since Rose won MVP. He’s battled a consistent stream of injuries, including multiple major knee surgeries, which has thus limited his availability and hindered his production.
As revealed on the Knicks’ official Twitter account, Rose will complete his fresh start in New York by changing his number.
