It was a mere four years ago that the New York Knicks won 54 games and the Atlantic Division title. In the four seasons that have followed, however, the Knicks have averaged 29.3 wins per season, missing the playoffs every time.
As the front office builds a roster that’s adequately suited to handle a youth movement, Las Vegas is showing minimal signs of short-term optimism.
New York has built a quality young core of Tim Hardaway Jr., Willy Hernangomez, Frank Ntilikina, and Kristaps Porzingis. It currently projects to return veterans Carmelo Anthony, Courtney Lee, Joakim Noah, and Kyle O’Quinn, as well, which has created some measure of optimism.
