2006 was the heart of the Isiah Thomas era. He held the New York Knicks President of Basketball Operations role from 2003-08, and this was one of multiple drafts holding two or more picks. They did not always work out, and the Pro Basketball Hall of Famer traded his fair share of draft selections, but two of them still stuck around.
However, 2006 was supposed to feature a top-four pick, until Thomas sent it to the Chicago Bulls as part of the Eddy Curry trade.
No. 20 and 29 fell into the Knicks’ hands.
