The 1988 NBA Draft saw the New York Knicks pick lower than where they should have placed, given their 1987-88 record. They went 19th in the first round via trade with the Chicago Bulls, who took Will Perdue at No. 11.
1988 also featured a trimmed down process, from seven to three rounds. Most draft picks in the seven and 10-round formats did not suit up for their NBA franchise, so limiting the number of players selected made sense.
