Coaching staff changes are prevalent in the NBA, especially after disappointing seasons. The New York Knicks, of course, struggled in 2018-19, but they had few adjustments to head coach David Fizdale’s unit afterward, with Howard Eisley departing to join Juwan Howard‘s staff at Michigan.
That opened a spot on the bench, which the Knicks used to promote internally. On Monday, they announced the hiring of Mike Miller to the staff.
For the past four seasons, Miller helmed the Westchester Knicks of the G League’s bench, finishing with a 108-92 record. This included the 2017-18 NBA G League Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year award, highlighting his work in a 32-win season.
