New York Knicks: Marcus Morris clarifies his free agency decision

Just when the New York Knicks offseason simmered, it stirred back up, with Marcus Morris signing a one-year, $15 million contract to fill their 15th and final roster spot. There was interest in him earlier this summer, but the veteran forward had verbally agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

The fallout spilled into Morris reportedly dropping his agent, Rich Paul, who was at the forefront of the Anthony Davis trade saga.

Officially a Knick, Morris cleared the air with The Athletic’s Shams Charania on what actually happened behind the scenes with Paul and why he flipped his free-agent decision:

“All this stuff that (Paul) didn’t want me to go to the Clippers and didn’t want me to go against LeBron (James), that’s not true,” Morris said.
