Kristaps Porzingis‘ time with the New York Knicks ended Thursday, when he, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee and Trey Burke were traded to the Dallas Mavericks for Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews, a 2021 first-round pick and a 2023 first-round pick.
It finished two-plus years of playing and three-and-a-half years with the organization, the last 12 months of which Porzingis did not play due to a torn left ACL.
The deal came to fruition after the Knicks had a meeting with Porzingis, who expressed concern over the franchise’s direction and losing ways of the past three months.
