The RJ Barrett-New York Knicks connection seemed as conjoined as Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans and Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies; but with weeks remaining until the 2019 NBA Draft, the situations can change.
Per ESPN, the Grizzlies have sent “mixed messages” on their plans for the No. 2 pick in the draft. It once seemed like Morant, but the Murray State product will undergo a knee operation that sidelines him for three-to-four weeks.
Marc Berman of the New York Post added the Knicks never thought Morant and Memphis were guaranteed, despite the rumors and speculation, as the Grizzlies could use an heir apparent to Mike Conley at point guard.
