In the early 1940s, Joe Lapchick was just coming off some of the best years of his life. After being labeled as the best center of the era, while playing on the original Boston Celtics, Lapchick had landed a job with St. John’s, and was creating a winning culture at the school.
Lapchick was originally from Yonkers, New York in Westchester County. Lapchick started playing basketball on traveling teams, where he made up to $100 per night. Lapchick would go to the opposing managers and have them bid for his services.
#Loyalty.
As a player, Lapchick was an invaluable piece to every team he played for.
