The Canadian national team opened up training camp for the 2019 FIBA World Cup on Monday and New York Knicks rookie RJ Barrett is there working on his game.
However, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft won’t be going to China with his fellow countrymen. This was already common knowledge, but Josh Lewenberg of TSN adds that his camp “encouraged” Barrett to skip the World Cup and prepare for his rookie season.
“I’m very disappointed. I play every summer and I definitely wanted to play this summer,” Barrett said via Lewenberg.
