New York Knicks: Bill Cartwright Defends The Triangle Offense

Over the course of Phil Jackson’s three seasons as team president of the New York Knicks, no phrase has been quite as polarizing, “Triangle offense.” The vaunted system has experienced a free fall from 11 championships to zero postseason appearances.

As NBA legends chime in on whether or not the triangle offense can work in the modern era, a former Knick is taking his turn: Bill Cartwright.

Cartwright played for the Knicks from 1979 to 1988, making the All-Star Game as a rookie. He was traded to the Chicago Bulls in June of 1988, where he’d go on to play for Jackson, who was then a head coach.
