Over the course of Phil Jackson’s three seasons as team president of the New York Knicks, no phrase has been quite as polarizing, “Triangle offense.” The vaunted system has experienced a free fall from 11 championships to zero postseason appearances.

Cartwright played for the Knicks from 1979 to 1988, making the All-Star Game as a rookie. He was traded to the Chicago Bulls in June of 1988, where he’d go on to play for Jackson, who was then a head coach.
