New York Knicks await Marcus Morris jeers in season opener

Basketball season officially returns for the New York Knicks on Wednesday, Oct. 23. It welcomes back a team who underwent a difficult, disparaging year in 2018-19, from the 17-65 record to the breakdown with the should-have-been face of the franchise, Kristaps Porzingis.

The Knicks have the chance to shed that that disappointment quickly, after revamping their roster with young players and veteran free agents. However, it starts against the San Antonio Spurs, perhaps the NBA’s most consistent franchise of the past 20 years.

There could be some bad blood between these teams. Marcus Morris, who signed a one-year, $15 million contract with New York, had reached a verbal agreement with the Spurs in free agency.
