After the March 30 game between the New York Knicks and Miami Heat, Emmanuel Mudiay sought out Dwyane Wade for the typical post-game jersey swap. Wade did this on his retirement tour during the regular season, by exchanging game-worn uniforms with a player from the other team.
Mudiay was the rare player to receive a decline, however. Wade told him, “I’m already giving it away.” Not exactly a comfortable moment for the young Knicks point guard.
As the season ended, however, Wade decided to gift Mudiay a jersey after all, and a framed one, which was thanked for in this clip from the Knicks:
Wade did this after his final game, so it’s at least his first positive act in retirement.
