When the Nets moved to Brooklyn in 2012, they joined the New York Knicks to make it two teams in New York City for the first time since 1976-77. They were still in proximity of each other, but there was never a legendary rivalry that developed.
Since 2012, occasional trash talk has arisen between the Knicks and Nets, but nothing that created anything notable, due to the poor placement of both teams in the standings. If they owned winning records, their battle for New York may take greater precedence.
Despite this, the Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie has tried to keep the war of words alive, including a Twitter beef with Enes Kanter.
