SAN FRANCISCO — Late Wednesday inside the visiting locker room at Golden State’s new Chase Arena, giddy Knicks players gathered around interim coach Mike Miller as Damyean Doston presented him with the game ball.
The players weren’t just celebrating the end of their 10-game losing steak but Miller’s first victory as an NBA head coach.
It’s been three games for the 55-year-old Miller since taking over for the fired David Fizdale. Although his postgame quotes are dryer than Fizdale’s, the team is competing with a renewed sharpness.
That may not be hard to do considering Fizdale’s final two games when the Knicks were blown out by a combined 81 points.
