PHILADELPHIA — Mike D’Antoni, associate coach of the 76ers, didn’t get a chance to watch Kristaps Porzingis play Friday as he sat out again with a shoulder strain, and it’s looking as if his season is over. But the former Knicks head coach, who helped revolutionize the stretch-4, sees greatness in the rookie.
The Sixers, before D’Antoni arrived, took Jahlil Okafor over Porzingis at No. 3, leaving the Latvian in the Knicks’ lap.
“[Porzingis] does everything,” D’Antoni said. “He could play the 4, the 5. When you watch him play, he’s going to be a great player.
