Imagine Carmelo Anthony as freshman phenom sporting the dreadlocks at St. John’s in 2003. It’s hard to generate this image, considering Anthony is forever linked to another school located in upstate New York. As a child, Anthony followed St. John’s closely but by the time he was prepared to unleash his prolific scoring prowess on the college scene, he opted for the University of Syracuse and the bond was forged.
"I watched the Big East. The Big East was my conference. I was a St Johns fan growing up, so to go from St John’s to Syracuse it was a big flop,” Anthony admitted.
