The big question now for the Knicks, in a second season in a row when they might not win 30 games, isn’t whether they should go forward with Carmelo Anthony. The question, two years into this with Phil Jackson, is whether they go forward with him, unless he wants to do the thing he does best in basketball, which means coach the team.
There are teams out there that would want Carmelo if they could make the money work on a trade with the Knicks, even with the knee problems Carmelo has had; even though he sometimes plays older than he is.
