LOS ANGELES — Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving thought he would be teammates this weekend with Kristaps Porzingis on Team LeBron at Staples Center. Maybe one day that happens at the Garden.
Irving said he has sent his “well wishes’’ to the fallen 7-foot-3 Latvian and revealed he gave Porzingis a personal compliment to him earlier this season when the Knicks visited Boston on Oct. 24.
“I told him I would love to play with a big like you, man, when we played them in the beginning of the season when he came to Boston,’’ Irving said during Saturday’s Media Day at All-Star Weekend.
