See, this thing got started with Anthony Bennett’s name getting called first from the podium, so it’s not that we can blame anyone for making the wrong draft pick in the summer of 2013, can we?
At the end of the day, the Knicks landed Tim Hardaway Jr. with a late first-round pick (No. 24), and by the time David Stern stepped up to the podium to announce THJ’s selection even a then-unknown Giannis Adetokunbo was off the board. Outside of Rudy Gobert (No. 27), it’s fair to say the Knicks made the best possible pick of the 2013 class of rookies, and even then Gobert was an OG Nugget before Denver traded him to Utah on location in exchange for Erick Green (whoops).
