On March 15, 2016, the New York Knicks received a measure of promising news when Ramona Shelburne of ESPN revealed that Phil Jackson is considering a return to the sidelines. Tantalizing a report as it is, the nature of Jackson’s rumored return can only be described as polarizing.
Rather than coming back as a full-time head coach, Jackson’s rumored plans are to lead the Knicks exclusively during home games—or are they?
There’s been a certain degree of backlash to this proposition, although the general population remains somewhat intrigued. It’s not hard to understand why; Jackson won a record 11 NBA championships as a head coach, and another two as a player for these very Knicks—the only two in franchise history.
