Now that Phil Jackson’s power struggle with Carmelo Anthony has cooled and the trade deadline has passed without converting their pending free-agent point guards into any assets, the Knicks can get back to what’s most important: the triangle offense, and dumping guys who don’t get it.
Jeff Hornacek said Tuesday he would use the remaining 22 games of a seemingly lost season to evaluate his players’ ability to adapt to the triangle, Jackson’s pet offense that has been featured increasingly in recent games on either side of the All-Star break.
“I think we’ve gotten better,” Hornacek said the day after a 92-91 loss to the Raptors in which the Knicks blew a 17-point lead.
