As expected, the Knicks are trying to finalize a meeting with David Blatt, the former Cavaliers coach who interviewed with Phil Jackson in 2016. According to ESPN, Blatt is out of the country and may not be able to interview until next week.
Blatt just won the Euro Cup with his Istanbul squad and the one-time highly successful Israeli League coach is former Princeton teammates of Knicks president Steve Mills and developmental director Craig Robinson, who has emerged as a strong voice in the Knicks hierarchy. Blatt has no connection to general manager Scott Perry, however, which is the downside of his long-reported candidacy.
