The New York Knicks have the No. 3 and 55 overall selections in the 2019 NBA Draft. The former resulted from Tuesday’s lottery and the latter via trade. Two picks are standard for a team, but the team does not own their own second-round pick.
In 2014, then president of basketball operations Phil Jackson sent New York’s 2019 second-round pick away to clear luxury cap space and open a roster spot for Travis Wear. Now, that pick belongs to the Brooklyn Nets, who will select at No. 31 — the second round’s first pick.
