OAKLAND, Calif. — The Knicks signed guard Tony Wroten Wednesday, but he’s not expected to practice or play with the Knicks this season.
Wroten, who signed a two-year deal, is recovering from a partially torn ACL. Team president Phil Jackson said last week that Wroten would play for the Knicks’ summer league team so they can get a look at him, and see how he fits and whether he can help their backcourt situation.
“It’s my understanding he will not be joining the team at all this year,” interim coach Kurt Rambis said. “We have an opportunity to work with him over the summer and see what he can bring in summer league and retain his rights so he’s somebody we could possibly look at in the future.
