Former Knicks president Phil Jackson mostly bombed with his second-round picks. Current Knicks general manager Scott Perry will try to reverse the trend Thursday with the 36th selection, acquired in the Carmelo Anthony deal.
The only second-rounder Jackson has a shot with is his 2017 pick, shooting guard Damyean Dotson, who still has promise. Willy Hernangomez, a 2015 second-rounder, had a solid rookie season, but then was traded for peanuts (2020 and 2021 second-round picks).
Cleanthony Early, picked ahead of Jordan Clarkson, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo, turned out to be busts and are out of the league. European stash picks, French forward Louis Labeyrie (2014) and Serbian point guard Ognjen Jaramaz, will likely never play in the NBA.
