Since Patrick Ewing was unceremoniously traded to the Seattle SuperSonics, the New York Knicks have been star-chasing. There have been some promising acquisitions, as well as those that were necessary evils, but the general theme has been swinging and missing.
As New York prepares for its first offseason under team president Leon Rose, it appears as though they already have a potential free agent in the financial crosshairs.
The Knicks have a young core that’s presently being built around shooting guard RJ Barrett and center Mitchell Robinson. They also have multiple first-round draft picks in 2020 and an abundance of short-term and long-term cap space.
