The New York Knicks have shocked the masses. Less than two weeks before the commencement of free agency, the Knicks dealt Jose Calderon, Jerian Grant, and Robin Lopez for 2011 NBA MVP Derrick Rose.
Though the point guard position has been addressed, there’s a new void to fill: that of a starting center.
By trading Lopez, the Knicks have lost their starting center—an acceptable cost in the eyes of the front office. The fan favorite big man had a contract that enabled the deal to be done, and is the type of starting-caliber talent Chicago needed.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks are interested signing one of Rose’s most noteworthy teammates to replace Lopez: Joakim Noah.
