The working theory around the Association is that the New York Knicks will select a point guard at No. 8 overall in the 2017 NBA Draft. Rational an expectation as that may be, it appears as though the Knicks are considering a player at the other guard spot.
It’s far from certain to transpire, but the Knicks are looking at a prospect groomed by a coach who helped build the team’s defensive-minded culture in the 1980s: Rick Pitino.
Pitino is currently the head coach of the Louisville Cardinals—a team with which he’s experienced tremendous success. Fresh off of yet another NCAA Tournament appearance, Pitino’s star player appears to be directly on New York’s radar.
