Just as it seemed the New York Knicks were lined up for RJ Barrett — maybe even Ja Morant, a last-second curveball was thrown into the 2019 NBA Draft plans on Tuesday. Per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, the Knicks will work out Darius Garland on Wednesday, roughly 24 hours before they must pick at No. 3 overall. He is in “serious consideration” to land with them.
The late nature of this is interesting, as the Knicks were long speculated to take Duke’s Barrett, who wants to play in New York. He and Morant were the next two projected players after Zion Williamson, who will land first overall to the New Orleans Pelicans.
