PORTLAND, Ore. — Much to the chagrin of the New York Lottery Police, the Knicks have lost 13 of 14 games and are 1-5 since the All-Star break, but haven’t gained a single ping pong ball.
If the NBA’s draft lottery had been held Wednesday, the Knicks would have been the ninth seed — just as they were before going 0-3 on their current four-game trip. For all the losing and disgraceful third quarters, the Knicks, at 24-41, still have three more victories than the closest team below them, the Bulls, in the so-called Tankathon standings.
On the bright side, NBA commissioner Adam Silver reportedly gave the Bulls a warning about resting veterans Robin Lopez and Justin Holiday, meaning Chicago is under the tanking microscope.
