The offseason went a long way in spicing up the rivalry between the Knicks and Nets.
When they finally took the court together for the first time since Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant picked the Nets over the Knicks, there wasn’t any love lost. The two sides could not even get through the first half without a scuffle and tempers flaring Friday night at Barclays Center.
Irving drove to the rim late in the second quarter and was denied by Julius Randle, but got his own rebound while sitting on the floor. While Irving tried to figure out what to do with the ball, Bobby Portis came over and tried to wrestle the ball out of his hands or force a jump ball.
