After Willy Hernangomez made the All-Rookie first team last year, there were high expectations for the Knicks big man entering this season.
But in a crowded frontcourt, the 23-year-old still is competing to see the floor at all.
During the season-opening loss Thursday at Oklahoma City, Hernangomez checked in during garbage time, logging four total minutes and scoring three points.
Enes Kanter got the start at center and Kyle O’Quinn recorded 22 minutes as the primary backup. With Joakim Noah currently serving a 12-game suspension after testing positive for PED use, there projects to be an even greater logjam soon.
