PHILADELPHIA -- New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns has a bone chip in his right thumb to go along with the sprain he suffered in Monday's loss to the Detroit Pistons, sources confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday, though those same sources also said Towns is expected to play through the injury.

Towns hurt his thumb in the first half of Monday's loss, when he smacked his shooting hand on the backboard on a drive. He wound up playing the rest of the game -- finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds in 43 minutes -- though he grabbed at his hand at several points as the game progressed.
