Knicks hold out ‘frustrated’ Porzingis, risk him falling behind

WEST POINT – Rookie Kristaps Porzingis’ mood is more irritated than his left knee.

Though he felt no pain in his knee Friday morning after doing tests, the Knicks held him out of practice for the second straight day as the Latvian 7-3 rookie missed valuable 5-on-5 scrimmage time.

It was a mild surprise since coach Derek Fisher and Porzingis nearly guaranteed he’d be back Friday.

Porzingis said he wanted to participate, but the Knicks are being extra careful after he tweaked the “IT band’’ Wednesday night. Fisher said Porzingis, the No. 4 pick in the draft, “probably’’ will practice in the second session Friday night when non-contact drills take place.
