CHICAGO — Damyean Dotson, who ended the final stretch of this past season as the Knicks’ starting shooting guard, underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder and is expected to be back for the start of training camp, according to a source.
If the Knicks select Duke swingman RJ Barrett with the third pick in the upcoming draft, it is likely Dotson’s starting days will be over.
While Dotson is not a lock to return, pending the Knicks’ free-agent splurge, the brass like him as part of the future because he’s a 6-foot-6, solid defender who can hit 3-pointers.
